Implementation

Salesforce implementation

Salesforce implementation is the work of turning licences into a working business system: processes mapped, the platform configured to them, clean, migrated data, users trained, and the whole thing governed from day one.

Our Salesforce implementation services will transform your business processes, enhance customer relationships and drive growth. A UK Salesforce partner since 2012, we specialise in tailored Salesforce implementation, offering a comprehensive suite of services designed to realise the full potential of the Salesforce platform and integrated applications.

Our team will integrate Salesforce into your existing IT ecosystem, minimising disruption and ensuring a smooth transition. We work closely with you to ensure a seamless migration of data and processes, and to simplify your business processes, creating optimised workflows within Salesforce that boost productivity and efficiency across your organisation.

The shape of a successful implementation has proved remarkably consistent, which is why the eleven stages below are the same on every project we run. You always know where you are, what happens next and what is expected of you.

The programme

How a C24 implementation runs

Every implementation is different. The shape is not. These eleven stages run in this order on every project we deliver, so you always know where you are and what is expected of you next.

Requirements scoping workshopWe work through what the business needs to do, not what it wants the software to look like. Everything downstream depends on this being honest.
Present time and cost planA scoped, fixed proposal rather than an open-ended day rate. Scope changes are flagged before they happen rather than after.
Process and data spec workshopYour processes documented and your data profiled. This is where most of the surprises surface, which is why it happens early.
Confirm design, confirm licencesSign-off on the design and the licence position before anything is built. Getting licences wrong here is expensive to unwind.
System configurationObjects, fields, flows, automation and the security model, built to the signed design and following patterns proven across our client base since 2012.
Demonstrate process mappingWe show you your own processes running in the system before we load a single real record. Cheap to change at this point.
Data migrationProfiled, cleansed and deduplicated before it lands, then loaded in a sandbox so you can see the result before anything is committed.
Project go liveThe switch, planned and rehearsed. We agree the rollback position before we need it.
Onsite trainingRole-based, so people learn the job they actually do rather than a tour of the platform. Adoption is the metric that matters.
System handoverDocumentation, admin knowledge transfer and the decisions register, so whoever owns it next can read what we did and why.
Post live support and BAUThirty days close, then a managed service plan, Flex24 hours, or your own team. Go live is the start of the work, not the end.

Or the fast route

Do you need all eleven stages?

If your processes are recognisable, your data is manageable and you need to be live in weeks rather than months, the full programme is more than you need. Our fixed-cost rapid implementation, FastStart, compresses the same method into four weeks.

Coverage

What we implement

Every core Salesforce application, plus the custom build that starts where configuration runs out. Salesforce renamed most of these between 2025 and 2026, so both names are given.

Agentforce Sales

Formerly Sales Cloud

Pipeline, forecasting and process automation built around how your team actually sells.

Agentforce Service

Formerly Service Cloud

Case management, SLAs and self-service that deflect volume without deflecting customers.

Experience Cloud

Formerly Community Cloud

Portals and communities that put your processes in your customers and partners hands.

Agentforce Marketing

Formerly Marketing Cloud

Journeys, Account Engagement and automation connected to real CRM data.

Data 360

Formerly Data Cloud

The unified data layer, where the estate is bigger than the CRM and the reporting needs to prove it.

Custom build

Where configuration runs out

Apex, Lightning components and custom applications when clicks alone will not carry the requirement.

Beyond the core

ERP and total system design

Salesforce rarely lives alone, and our implementations do not treat it as if it does.

C24 grew up doing total system design: deep experience across ERP and finance systems including NetSuite, Xero and Sage, plus ecommerce, support platforms and data warehouses. We design to modern MACH principles, which means Salesforce first where it is the right choice, best-of-breed where it is not, and clean integration either way.

Your implementation is designed inside your whole landscape, not dropped into it. See how we approach Salesforce integration.

Method

How we deliver

The eleven stages above are the plan. The Cognition Way is how we work inside them.

Design work runs in sprints because design benefits from iteration. Configuration, migration and change run to a plan because a licensed platform with a go-live date does not. The interesting question on any implementation is where the seam between the two sits, and we agree that with you in week one.

Afterwards

Post implementation support

Go live is the start. Hand over to a managed service plan, draw on Flex24 hours, or run it yourself with the documentation we leave behind. Whichever you choose, it is scoped before go live rather than after.

Salesforce implementation: frequently asked questions

How long does a Salesforce implementation take?

A typical SMB implementation runs six to twelve weeks depending on the clouds involved, the state of your data and the number of integrations. Our fixed-cost FastStart programme goes live in weeks. Timelines firm up after assessment rather than before it.

How much does Salesforce implementation cost in the UK?

It depends on scope, so we quote a fixed proposal after assessment rather than an open-ended day rate. For standard sales and service builds, FastStart offers a published fixed cost.

Which Salesforce clouds do you implement?

Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud and Marketing Cloud including Account Engagement, plus custom Salesforce solutions built with Apex and Lightning where configuration alone is not enough.

Can you integrate Salesforce with our ERP during implementation?

Yes, and we would rather do it during than after. We have implemented alongside NetSuite, Xero, Sage and other finance and ERP systems, and we design the integration into the build rather than bolting it on later.

Why do Salesforce implementations fail?

Unmapped processes, dirty data and unclear ownership. That is why our method starts with process and data before configuration, the same order as our five pillars.

Should we implement Salesforce ourselves or use a partner?

Salesforce is easy to switch on and hard to set up well. A partner brings patterns from many orgs, avoids expensive data-model mistakes, and transfers knowledge so you own the result.

Can you implement Salesforce if we have no internal admin?

Yes. Many of our implementations go live with no in-house Salesforce admin at all, handing over to a C24 managed service on day one. Others are built for an internal owner to run, with training and documentation designed around that. We scope for whichever you intend.

What happens to our existing data during implementation?

It is profiled, cleansed and deduplicated before migration rather than after. We agree what genuinely needs to move and what belongs in an archive, then run the load in a sandbox so you can see the result before anything is committed.
